Carolyn’s Shade Gardens

Established in 1992 by Carolyn Walker, Carolyn’s Shade Gardens sells perennials for shade with a specialty in snowdrops, hellebores, hostas, and native plants. The shirt, designed by Excel artist Mike Hegedus, features a native wild columbine. “The wild columbine has been my logo since the beginning and reflects our commitment to native plants,” explains Carolyn. Carolyn’s focus is on providing high-quality perennials for shade that will survive with low maintenance along with knowledgeable advice about all aspects of gardening. “We started a blog [] in 2010 to educate customers about plants and gardening issues,” she shares.

CAP Trucking

Established in Florida in 2011 by Christopher Porricelli, CAP Trucking transports refrigerated, frozen and perishable goods up and down the entire east coast. Originally from Bronx, NY, Porricelli worked in his family’s wholesale produce business for a number of years. “Working winters in The Bronx, outside on the loading docks, was enough experience for me,” he laughs. Through this interaction with trucking and distribution, he ended up developing his own appreciation and passion for that side of the industry.

Historic Ships in Baltimore

Located in the inner harbor of Baltimore, Maryland, the Historic Ships in Baltimore is a fleet of historic floating museum ships and a unique lighthouse open to the public for tours, events, and educational programs. The shirt features the U.S.S. Constellation, the last all sail wooden warship built by the U.S. Navy in 1854. Mother Trucker

The truck is owned by Beth and Dean Holicky and is a Multi-Time Grand National Champion that runs with the NTPA Grand National circuit. Framed by their name and the American flag, the design features their Peterbilt truck which they restored. “We found the cab on the side of a guy’s driveway all rusty and in need of tender loving care,” says Beth. At only 9 years of age, Ethan is already a 5-year veteran of the sport, racing go-karts on dirt tracks in Georgia and South Carolina since he was 4 years old. Orrville Fire Department

On this July 2nd – 6th, 2019 the Orrville Firefighters are hosting their annual “Fire in the Sky Celebration,” a week-long festival that includes parades, softball and volleyball tournaments, and, of course, a massive fireworks display. It is estimated that more than 50,000 spectators descend upon the town for Saturday’s finale, more than five times the population of Orrville itself! Located in roughly 50 miles south of Cleveland in Wayne County, Ohio, Orrville is a town with a population around 8,500 and is home to some significant industry including Smuckers Jelly, Will-Burt, and Ventrac Tractors.

Patriot Series | “Liberty Founded 1776”

The Fourth of July is our nation’s birthday, and people all across the country honor America with gatherings of family and friends, cookouts, parties and, of course, fireworks.” On Memorial Day, Excel launched the “Patriot Series” 2019 designs,” explains Excel founder Pat Tzanis, “The success was amazing, thousands of shirts printed and worn all over the US. l personally took a few dozen shirts to my club for our picnic, I should have brought a few hundred! People loved the design and put the shirts on immediately. I admit I loved seeing Excel on the back of such a patriotic shirt.”

HTI Hall Trucking Express, Inc

Founded in 1985 by Jeff Hall, HTI is a family-owned and Veteran-owned and operated business, transporting refrigerated and dry freight in the states of Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Virginia, Connecticut, and Massachusetts. Illustrated by Excel artist Tim Fritz, HTI’s shirt design was very planned and very specific. The American-themed design was thought up by one of the HTI employees, geared towards celebrating the patriotic summer months.

Fire Chief Johnnie Coonrod came up with the design, inspired by the charming history of Mound City, Illinois. “We have several historic buildings in Mound City,” says Chief Coonrod. “like the one featured on the shirt. One of our firefighters lives there, actually.”

It is, in fact, Doris VanHorn’s house, as evidenced by the mailbox. Taking a look at some of the details of the shirt reveals even more “easter eggs…”

Our special holiday “Design of the Week” goes to the Aberdeen Fire Department in Aberdeen, Maryland. We’ve been doing holiday themed shirts for them over the years, and this fun 2018 design features Santa looking over his map while his elves prep his sleigh for deliveries.
