This week’s Design of the Week feature is The South Smokin’ BBQ!
Regularly serving delicious sauces on beef, brisket, pulled pork and chicken, The South Smokin BBQ can be found at various locations such as breweries and festivals around Livermore, California. Their customer service and food get rave reviews from faithful customers.
“During the week I am a vegetarian,” says Javier R on Yelp. “That was before I met up with South Smokin BBQ. It was no contest.”
Jason G. of Dublin, CA says, “Best BBQ I’ve had in the Bay Area, hands down, and I’ve had a lot of great BBQ. Can’t beat sitting in the middle of Livermore wine country with a great glass of red, the view, and BBQ so good that the flavors will make your tongue stand up and dance.”
Originally from Arkansas, Tim McGuire of The South Smokin BBQ has traveled the world perfecting his recipes. “I joined the Navy in 1987. I’ve been all around the world partying and getting my BBQ recipes. Now I’m BBQing for you!”
Humorously, his shirt features several animals that BBQ fans might be familiar with: a cow, a pig, a chicken, a salmon. And since there’s so much going on with the livestock, some of the details of the logo might get lost in the shuffle.
“They didn’t have a logo, so I was able to come up with something for the logo design,”remembers our artist, Eric Poole. “I really liked how it incorporated the BBQ fork, the subtle grill design in the background, and the arrow pointing down, representing the “south” of the name. It came together nicely.”
When prompted for recommendations on Facebook, customers are eager to oblige. “Everything,” writes Jade Salvidar, “I recommend everything they make.”
