This “Design of the Week” features kart racer Ethan Martin!
Our Design of the Week is this exciting shirt from kart racer, Ethan Martin!
At only 9 years of age, Ethan is already a 5-year veteran of the sport, racing go-karts on dirt tracks in Georgia and South Carolina since he was 4 years old.
Ethan’s involvement in racing has created a family tradition in the Martin family. His father, Evans Martin, races cars in Hobby and Late Model classes. In fact, the entire Martin Racing team is a family affair.
“Ethan’s brother and I are always excited about the racing and do all the work on the kart while his mother is always nervous when he is behind the wheel,” laughs Evans. “Ethan’s grandfather, Henry, also attends almost every race and is a vital part of the team.”
The Martin Racing shirt, illustrated by Excel artist Alan Hood, features Ethan racing in his go-kart surrounded by stylistic designs inspired by the graphics on the kart.
“Excel Sportswear did an excellent job of creating the design we had in mind,” says Evans. “Their design team was eager to assist by listening to suggestions for changes, which resulted in them capturing the images we wanted.”
Ethan, who is thrilled to have his own shirts, will be giving his tees to his friends and family. Racing is a big part of Ethan’s life, one that he is eager and excited to share.
“Ethan’s friends like to hear his racing stories, and many of them find it hard to believe that he wins so many races,” says Evans. “His teachers like to hear his stories about his races, too,” he adds.
While Ethan has to wait a few more years to race cars legally, his eyes are certainly looking towards carrying on the family tradition.
“Ethan hopes to advance to cars in the future but is enjoying the karts for now,” says Evans.
