This “Design of the Week” features off-road motorcycle racing pro, Hunter Bush!
Our adrenaline-fueled Design of the Week features off-road motorcycle racing pro, Hunter Bush.
Hailing from Sciota, PA, rider #293 races in hare scrambles and enduros for AMA East Regional and select National Events with NEPG and GNCC.
Bush started racing at the young age of 10 years old and recently turned pro in 2018. With over a decade of experience, his dream is to make his life-long passion his career. “My goal is to make a living racing,” says Hunter.
His proud parents, Richard and Laura, are encouraging and supportive of his chosen path, and help round out the “Hunter Bush Racing” team.
“He is very determined to succeed with his racing career,” beams Laura. “So that’s why his father and I are broke!” she adds with a laugh. “The story of every racing family.”
The Pennsylvania wilderness is perfect for Hunter Bush Racing. Hare scramble is a form of off-road motorcycle racing that varies in distance and time, with riders completing multiple laps around a marked course through wooded or other rugged natural terrains. Enduro, similarly, is run on extended off-road courses, but also incorporates obstacles and challenges, mainly time trials.
Hunter has won several championships, most recently 2018 Overall Champion at High Mountain Dirt Riders Shotgun Sprint Enduro, and making the podium at the Amsoil GNCC (Grand National Cross Country) Race at Mountaineer Run in Masontown, WV in 2017.
When it came time to order shirts, Hunter sought advice from his mom, who knew to contact Excel.
“[She] said it was very easy working with Excel. They are experienced in creating racing t-shirts, so they knew just what she was talking about when she contacted them,” he explains.
The design of Bush off-road racing on his Yamaha YZ 250 was illustrated by Excel artist Dean Dymerski and was a result of a collaboration between the Bush family and our account specialist Paul Berginc.
“Mom wanted a photo of me racing with my bike number clearly seen,” recounts Hunter. The design also features the muddy and rugged terrain, team colors, and other racing themes like checkered flags. “I love everything about it!!”
