Located in the inner harbor of Baltimore, Maryland, the Historic Ships in Baltimore is a fleet of historic floating museum ships and a unique lighthouse open to the public for tours, events, and educational programs.

The shirt features the U.S.S. Constellation, the last all sail wooden warship built by the U.S. Navy in 1854.

Other ships at the Historic Ships in Baltimore include the Coast Guard Cutter Taney, the last defender afloat from the attack on Pearl Harbor; the U.S.S. Torsk, a submarine that sunk the last Japanese warships of World War II; and the lightship Chesapeake whose beacon guided ships in and out of the Chesapeake Bay.

Finally, the historic and unique Seven Foot Knoll Lighthouse is featured, which was one of the lighted sentinels of Baltimore harbor.

“We’re always looking for fresh ideas and designs for our ships, to show them in new, and unique ways without losing their authenticity,” says Jordan Ciesielczyk-Gibson, Retail Coordinator of Historic Ships in Baltimore.

“Seeing this design for the first time was absolutely stunning! Seeing the design evolve and come to life, and having a direct input on the development of the design was really cool.”

The artwork was illustrated by Excel artist Chris Grimm, who worked with the organization through a few rounds of revisions. Jordan says of the experience, “It was really cool and clear cut with lots of open communication.” He continues, “I love the whole design, especially the vantage point of the ships stern (or rear) section, and the attention to detail of our ship. We requested that the masts be extended further up because on the design the masts were really short, out of scale with the actual ship.”

“Our organization is inherently unique being a museum centered around four unique ships each with their own storied history,” explains Jordan.

They aim to honor and perpetuate the legacy of these ships through the historical interpretation, restoration, and preservation of the revered symbols of maritime heritage while acting as a cultural and educational resource for the community.

“Just like the hundreds of sailors who served their nation aboard our ships, Historic Ships in Baltimore is honored to give back to our community,” says Jordan.

“Through discount admission for the men and women of our Armed Services and their families, Historic Ships thanks them for their service and honors the past. Through discounted tours for Baltimore City Schools, we support the young minds who will carry us into the future. As part of our commitment to the community, Historic Ships in Baltimore is proud to support area charities through donations of general admission tickets to be used as prizes for silent auctions, raffles, and other fundraising events.”
