This “Design of the Week” features Fox Valley Fire & Safety!
Stay alert and attentive for our Design of the Week, Fox Valley Fire & Safety. By providing fire prevention and fire safety needs for their customers through services like on-site surveys, design, engineering, installation, monitoring, services, and more, Fox Valley Fire & Safety is one company that does it all.
“We are celebrating our 60th year as a company in 2020,” says Debra Chin, Fox Valley Marketing Manager. “This is the 5th annual shirt we have done with Excel, each boasting a different service truck with backdrop design. We knew we wanted to do a retro truck design for the 60th shirt,” she adds. “All of these truck graphic shirts have been very popular with all of our employees.”
Fox Valley Fire & Safety has over 300 employees and is 100% employee-owned through its Employee Stock Ownership Plan.
“Our strength is our highly skilled and experienced workforce, 24-hour emergency service, and a diverse range of quality fire protection equipment and services that provide superior fire protection and security needs in the greater Chicagoland area,” says Debra.
One of their employees, Mary Zwiefelhofer, works as their graphic designer, webmaster, and content producer. Last year, Mary designed what would eventually become this shirt as a design for a promotional item. “Earlier in 2019, Mary needed to come up with a retro design for our screen/glasses cloth,” tells Debra. “She wanted to combine our logo and Area of Service Graphics with an early service truck with a retro feel; thus the 60s-style “Serving Chicagoland Since 1960” sign.”
It was this reference that was passed along to Excel to recreate and adapt to work as a shirt design. “Our message with the shirt is to show that we have been doing this since 1960,” explains Debra. “We may have started the business servicing and selling fire extinguishers, but have evolved into an industry leader in the Chicagoland market meeting all fire, safety, and security needs.”
“Our experience with Excel has always been excellent,” says Debra.
“The process lends to a full graphic tee that is not heavy or thick with print. It’s light and has excellent detail, clarity, and color. The shirts wear very well, the first ones being five years old now still hold up.”
