Excel Sportswear’s Interview with our Featured “Design of the Week.”
Today we’re featuring this haunting Chasin’ Demons design as our Design of the Week!
Chasin’ Demons is family owned and operated out of Petrolia, Ontario, Canada. Steve and Tammy Dewhirst got into the pulling game four years ago, and in 2016 they introduced their current Chasin’ Demons tractor.
While Steve is the driver, his wife Tammy is the self-described “crew” and handles much of the business. “For a nurse, I know way too much about tractors,” she laughs. “We all have demons, and this sport is my husband’s.”
When Tammy began her search for a t-shirt manufacturer, she had no luck with her local shops. “The options here where we live just weren’t very good,” Tammy explains. “I found Excel online after seeing your work with the pullers and your advertisements with the OTTPA [Ontario Truck and Tractor Pulling Association].”
The shirt design features their demon logo behind their detailed tractor, the scary skull engulfed in orange and blue flames with a motor in its fanged jaws. Our artist brought the concept together just as Tammy had hoped.
“I was so excited,” she says of seeing her design for the first time. “I thought [the whole experience] was amazing,” Tammy says her new shirts will help her and her husband get even more attention at the tractor pulling events.
Tammy readily admits that, although it regularly places in the Top 5 of its class, Chasin’ Demons is still one of the smaller tractors at their regular pulls. “It’s a smaller engine, just a 375 small-block Chevy,” she says. “But it’s always right up there with the big guys with the big engines.”
Tammy and Steve now have a stand-out shirt for a stand-out tractor!
