This “Design of the Week” features CAP Trucking!
Our Design of the Week is CAP Trucking LLC.
Established in Florida in 2011 by Christopher Porricelli, CAP Trucking transports refrigerated, frozen and perishable goods up and down the entire east coast.
Originally from Bronx, NY, Porricelli worked in his family’s wholesale produce business for a number of years. “Working winters in The Bronx, outside on the loading docks, was enough experience for me,” he laughs. Through this interaction with trucking and distribution, he ended up developing his own appreciation and passion for that side of the industry.
At just 24 years-old, Porricelli gambled on himself, taking his life savings and moving to Florida to start his own business. “I had one truck that cost me a lot in repairs,” Porricelli recalls of his humble beginnings, “but I was able to sell it and buy something else within about a year, and I just kept working.” His persistence paid off.
“I should’ve fallen on my face for good after six months, but I kept getting up to try again. Eventually, I found the help and guidance I needed to stay in business, and it started to take off. Now I have five trucks, six trailers, a small warehouse with loading docks, and offices.”
Porricelli credits his company’s growth to his team, “I owe it to my dedicated employees and vendors for the opportunities presented and accomplished daily.” And along the way, he also ended up building a special friendship with his loyal dog, Joey. “I had adopted a rescue dog, which I turned into a service animal, and he rode with me in the truck for three years. Now, he accompanies me every day to the office.”
This latest CAP Trucking shirt, designed by Excel artist Todd Kern, proudly features the newest truck to the CAP fleet, a 2019 Peterbilt 389 glider in front of an American flag background. “I ordered it in June of 2018 and picked it up May of 2019. We put it on the road officially in July. This is not the first design Excel has made for us, and possibly the best so far. ”
At the end of the day, Porricelli’s bet on himself paid off. “This August will be eight years in business. I had dropped out of college at 20, and my mother told me I was going to work very hard for the rest of my life, compared to others, in obtaining the things I wanted. She was not wrong! But, I enjoy the challenges as well, so it works.”
